In spring 2022, ConnectEd convened the Professional Development Panel Series, an online set of conversations on academic careers for undergraduate and graduate students. Faculty conversations on doctoral study and academic careers, across four academic fields.
Led by Connected Research, ConnectEd’s student organizations at UC Irvine and UCLA, the series invited twelve professors from U.S. universities to share how they navigated doctoral study and built faculty careers at R1 research universities.
The series was organized into four field-specific sessions so that participants could hear from faculty in the disciplines closest to their own interests. It was sponsored by the UC Irvine Association of Graduate Students.

After the Social Sciences session, attendees asked for more time with the speakers. ConnectEd added a follow-up round of one-on-one Q&A with the professors, and more than 100 people signed up within 24 hours.
