ConnectEd Research Institute is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to widening access to research education, mentorship, and academic pathways.
We support learners who are developing the knowledge, confidence, and research habits needed to participate meaningfully in academic communities.
We work with learners at different stages, including secondary-school students, undergraduates, graduate students, and early-career researchers. Participation and prerequisites vary by program.
Advanced learners may need methodological depth or project-specific feedback, while new researchers may benefit from a structured introduction to inquiry.
We start with the learner and the research question.
We connect conceptual understanding with practice, make room for feedback and revision, and encourage participants to communicate both what their work suggests and what it cannot establish.
Our work includes foundational research training, focused methods instruction, mentored projects, research fellowship experiences, and school-based programs.
Build confidence in scholarly reading, literature search, research questions, academic writing, and responsible research practice.
Develop practical tools for evidence synthesis, statistical reasoning, programming, and quantitative or computational inquiry.
Investigate a focused question through structured guidance, independent work, feedback, and research communication.
Explore structured participation in research environments with defined roles, expectations, and appropriate host arrangements.
Integrate research learning into school and partner programs through collaboratively designed curriculum and support.
Workshops, academic-pathway conversations, and mentoring initiatives complement this work by making academic knowledge and guidance more accessible.
ConnectEd has convened workshops and panels on academic pathways, including conversations with professors affiliated with University of California campuses.
In 2025, we also organized a multi-month nonprofit PhD Incubator supporting prospective doctoral applicants through webinars, mentoring, and individualized feedback.
ConnectEd Research Institute is a U.S. nonprofit recognized under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
